Fidesmo has always had a simple but ambitious idea: that any secure service — a payment token, an access credential, a digital key — should be deliverable to any device with a Secure Element, regardless of form factor, manufacturer, or geography.
Payments, with Fidesmo Pay, have been our first and very successful product. Fidesmo Pay with integrations to Mastercard and VISA has given us scale, commercial traction, and a network of banks that today spans 40+ countries. But we were never going to stop with just payments.
That’s why I’m excited to announce our next chapter in our journey to establishing the one platform for all contactless services. Fidesmo has joined the Car Connectivity Consortium (CCC).
Why the CCC, and why now
The CCC is the organisation defining how personal devices interact with vehicles — most notably through its Digital Key specification, which is already deployed at scale, enabling phones and wearables to replace physical car keys via NFC and Ultra-Wideband. It brings together the world’s leading technology companies, automakers, and device manufacturers around a shared set of standards.
For us, this is a natural next step. Our platform is built to provision and manage secure credentials on Secure Element-based devices — precisely the hardware class that Digital Key and other CCC standards depend on. The convergence isn’t coincidental. It’s the logical extension of what we’ve been building.
The ecosystem is growing — and so must we
The number of active and passive NFC-capable devices working with Fidesmo is accelerating faster than we have anticipated. With more form factors and brands that collaborate with Fidesmo to include secure elements for contactless services means that we have to continue to deliver value for these partners.
At Fidesmo, we have always believed that our responsibility is to grow with the ecosystem — to make sure that the devices already in our network can deliver more than a tap-to-pay experience. Connected vehicles is one of the most compelling new frontiers. And beyond vehicles, this is about establishing the foundation for a broader set of contactless services delivered through secure hardware.
Joining the CCC gives us a front-row seat to where these standards are heading, and positions Fidesmo to bring Digital Key and related capabilities to the device partners and issuers already in our network.
What this means for our partners
For our existing device partners and issuers: this is a signal of where the Fidesmo platform is headed. We are actively investing in our ability to deliver a broader range of contactless services through the Secure Elements already in the devices on our platform, and the CCC ecosystem is an important part of that roadmap.
For companies exploring what Digital Key or connected vehicle credentials could mean for their products and customers — we’d love to talk.
Joining the CCC is a continuation of the vision we’ve held since day one: a world where any secure service can reach any device. We’re ready for the next chapter.
